Camara Morris is a performing artist from Atlanta, Georgia who specializes in commercial dance and contemporary circus arts. Her journey began at age 8 as she trained with the award-winning creative youth development dance company, Moving in the Spirit where she learned African dance and Horton technique. Throughout grade school she was a member of one of Atlanta’s premier performing arts groups, Performing Arts Program for Youth, affectionately known as PAPY under the leadership of Ms. Hilda Willis. Here, she initiated her training as an actor in theatre arts. Ever fueled by her love and passion for dance, Camara studied and graduated high school with a focus in dance from Carver School of the Arts. After graduating high school, she continued to train as a dancer all over the southeast attending master classes from successful professionals who have come before her. Camara continued her studies with Anthony Burrell as a member of Anthony Burrell Center for Dance.
Her years of cheerleading in middle and high school have also contributed to her mission as a performing artist. She coached young girls in gymnastics & circus for 6 years alongside her middle and high school gymnastics coach, Coach Derrin Moore, Founder/Director of In-Flight Gymnastics & Circus , who also introduced Camara to preprofessional circus arts through membership of the performance company, Element Circus Troupe . As a member of Element Camara has performed as an aerialist, fire dancer, and stilt walker for Rich Homie Quan, Future, & Porsche’ Automobile just to name a few..
Over the years Camara has also independently built up her strength and flexibility through aerial training on pole and silks apparatus. Her passion for circus inspired her to create her on movement, Body Art Expressions, or BAE. BAE is an inclusive community of movers sharing, learning, and growing through circus arts. Camara has been a hip-hop commercial dancer opening for Asian Doll and Bhad Babie on the Bhanned in the USA Tour. Camara was a principal dancer on BET’s The Quad, Madea’s Homecoming, as well as dancing on Step Up Series just to name a few. Passionately motivated by her former acting coach, Camara currently continues to train as a screen actor with Evolv Atlanta. With her introduction to the professional world of performing arts, she is eager to expand her career and achieve her dreams.
In addition to being passionate and committed to her craft, Camara values education and is all about giving back to her community and encouraging all individuals to follow their dreams no matter what. In her spare time, she has volunteered helping with organizations like Play Making For Girls, Global Paint for Charity, Inc., NABA, Inc , The Pajama Program, and The SGI- USA also known as the “Value-Creation Society”. With her strong passion for the arts and giving back, Camara is making her mark in Atlanta, and is determined to reach humanity with her gifts..
